Job Offer Dillema

Okay, so I got a job offer. It is working for Chaz Limited Collision Express. They are the same ones who did a great job on Aaron's car after Jackie smashed it. They ahve a really good reputation, and the office seems like a great place to work. Everyone seems generally friendly and happy to be there. He has several employee's who started in the entry level (such as detailer and receptionist) who have since moved up to better jobs in the company. I really like the environment, their mission, the type of work, etc. They seem really impressed with me. So, where's the dillema you ask?

The only offered me $12 an hour. Now, this may seem like alot for alot of people, especially in fairbanks. Here, my bills (with food, gas and necessities) run $13/hour at a 40 hour/week job. My fixed bills every month are $1458 and my income if I only worked 40 hours at $12 an hour, after taxes, would be $1625.60 (or a bit more, like 1630). That only leaves about 160 for food and gas. I don't pay to eat out, Aaron's parents feed me almost regularly, and I don't drive around a lot (to eagle river once or twice a week, and to work every day, usually less than 5 miles away). Still, that is a really tight budget for food, gas and necessities (such as dish soap, or papertowels, etc.) I am going to talk to Aaron and see what he thinks. Since he eats over here a lot, I may be able to have him pay for the food, for the household. If that works, then I would probably be fine, but a tight budget.

Another positive is that during the winter, they ask for alot of overtime. I would only need to work 2.25 hours of overtime a week to make $13/hour and he said soemtimes during the winter, you will work an hour or so every day, and then on saturday also. That doesn't happen very often during the summer though, so thats the time I'm worried about. Also, they don't offer holiday pay. They offer medical, vacation, etc. though. Holiday's amount to $575 a year at $12/hour. I accounted that into my budget, when I said I get 1625 a month. That averages out those holidays.

Another positive is that he said if I deserve a raise after 3 weeks, then i'll get a raise after 3 weeks. Theres not specific evaluation time and they give raises. They also said alot of people get permoted in the company, so I could work there for a little while and then get a better paying job with them. Anyways, I really want this job, but I am worried about not being able to pay bills. What is everyone's advice. I know some people may point out that if Aaron and I break up, it will be harder, which I have taken into consideration. Hopefully, that won't happen, but if it does happen, winter is just around the corner right now, and Iwould have to save all the money I'd make on overtime for the summer, and just eat less. Anyways, opinions?

I would go for it... you can still look for other employment, sometimes getting your foot in the door is all that you need. You can ask for a raise later.
